Ramesh Rajaram Powar pronunciation (helpĀ·info) (born May 20, 1978 in Bombay - now Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian cricketer. He is a useful lower order batsman and off spinner who plays in the Indian ODI team. One of the less athleticly built of international cricketers, he has a fondness for bright red framed sunglasses and large gold chain necklace when fielding. He is known for being a bowler who has great control of flight and speed with the ball in hand.
Powar was selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.Powar has impressed Indian selectors with consistent performances in domestic cricket since his debut. He played a large role in Mumbai's successful 2002-03 season in the Ranji Trophy. Not only did he take 20 wickets but despite batting in the lower order he finished as the second-highest run scorer for his side with 418 runs @ 46.
